Detail Prototypes

With my prototypes I focused on the main detail of my collection which is the slight ruffle detail to represent the ridges on trees. the way these are shaped to the body is incorporating them into panel lines so that the garment still compliments the body.

with this prototype I experimented with adding very little ruffle so it was more ridged.

Showing the combination of colours and textures, with the stretch knit and velveteen as the ruffle insert

Larger ruffle that dominates more of the body than the smaller subtle prototypes above.

line up models poses

Here I looked at Federation's Winter 2011 collection, getting a sense of the style and attitude the models gave off with there poses and stances.
looking at using the silhouettes for my model line ups.

illustration inspirations and ideas

looking into Illustration styles and ideas...

These two images are from Federations Winter 2011 campaign,
I really liked the separated aesthetic of the images, with an image to one side and a detail on the other. really gives a slightly messy, edgy street vibe.
Could work well as an illustration style for me.

Eniko Mihalik, by Derek Kettela for 25 magazine, spring 2010
What I like about these photographs is the unusual mix of colours and textures, portrays a fun and exciting illustration style that could be applied to my work with the incorporation of my tree bark textures as an image overlay.

magazine advertisement for label Coop, by Lauren Connolly and Alexandra Dunn. Described as "young, energetic, rough and ready"
another good example of an illustration style i can relate to, because i do not like drawing faces on my models, this is a way to do it well. and similar aesthtic as my collection.

i really like the use of colour in this illustration, very vibrant and eye catching!

Designer inspirations

Mary Katrantzou
is a designer known for her distinctive prints and avant-garde textile development
What i like about katrantzou's work is the contrast and combining of multiple prints and colours that really make her garments stand out. Even though these collections are summer/spring an my collection is going to be autumn/winter i still believe these ides are able to be related and translated into a winter range, it will brighten up the average winter look! yay colour!
2012 spring/summer collection

Spring/Summer 2011
this collection is based on the photographs of interiors of buildings to be just as important as the models wearing them
(interesting idea that i think relates to my concept for this collection, focusing on the details of trees that most people would even notice the beauty of!!)
